Paul Geenen

I am a retired entrepreneur, an author, a grandfather of eight and a great-grandfather of two. I am the author of “Milwaukee’s Bronzeville: 1900-1950,” a history of African Americans in Milwaukee that was published by Acadia Publishing in 2006. In 2012 History Press published Schuster’s and Gimbels Milwaukee’s Beloved Department Stores, Sherman Park: A Legacy of Diversity in Milwaukee,” and in 2014 published Civil Rights Activism in Milwaukee: South Side Struggles in the ‘60s and ‘70s.

I was a team leader on the upper Eastside for President Obama’s 2008 and 2012 elections, participated in the inaugural meeting of Organizing for Action (OFA) in January of 2013 and volunteered as the OFA_WI state lead until December of 2018, when OFA was disbanded. Currently I am one of the leaders of Blue Wave Shorewood, organizing our community to ensure a 90% turnout for the 2020 election.
